Abstract
Uzbekistan is a natural habitat for such venomous snakes of the viper family as the Macrovipera lebetinus, Echis
and Gloydius. The most dangerous representative of this family in our country is Echis. The venom of these
snakes is multicomponent and contains many proteolytic enzymes, serine proteinases, histamine, bradykinin
and proteins that activate the X-factor of blood coagulation. Their effect on the human body is clinically
manifested as local and systemic effects up to disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome, hepatic renal
failure and necrosis of the bite site. This article provides statistical data on acute poisoning due to the bite of
snakes of the viper family in the Republic of Uzbekistan over the past 20 years, and also describes in detail the
clinical symptoms and principles of intensive care at the prehospital and hospital stages.
