DEFINITIONS OF THE CONCEPT AND CLASSIFICATION OF THE MIRIZZI SYNDROME

Abstract

The literature data on Mirizzi syndrome are analyzed. The definition of the concept of “type I Mirizzi syndrome” is argued, and the classification of Mirizzi syndrome, which is optimal from a practical point of view, is presented. Based on a large material, the definitions and historical data on the origin of the syndrome are discussed. The various available classifications, depending on the morphological nature and size of the fistula, are critically evaluated.
