The article presents the results of the practical implementation of the «bridge» strategy in
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in potentially reversible out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
based on 10-years experience of interaction between resuscitation teams of emergence me
dical care and multidisciplinary emergency hospital- the Alexander Hospital in St-Peters
burg. Over 10 years, CPR with the help of the Lucas-2 automatic chest compression device
(AAC) was perfomed in 510 cases of sudden out- and in-hospital cardiac arrest. 212 cases of
CPR were extended in time (more than 40 minutes) and were started at the prehospital stage
and continued already in ICU. 58 (11,8%) patients subsequently recovered safely and were
discharged from the hospital.
