Abstract

Aim. Evaluation of the effectiveness of moist air in the treatment of deep burn wounds of the palms and fingers
and in early cutaneous autodermoplasty.
Material and methods. In 2017-2022, 125 patients with deep burn wounds of the hands, palms and fingers
were divided into 2 groups, and the results of treatment were studied in the combustiology department of the
Samarkand branch of the Republican Scientific Center of Emergency Medicine. Sixty-eight (54.4%) patients
in the main group were treated with a moist air environment. Traditional methods of treatment were used in
57 (46.6%) patients in the control group. The age of the patients ranged from 7 months to 73 years, and the
average age was 23 ± 3,0 years.
Results. When patients with deep burns of the hands, palms and fingers in the main group were treated with
moist air, due to unfavorable conditions for the life and reproduction of microorganisms in the burn wound,
the regeneration processes were accelerated, the recovery period of the skin was shortened, and the bed-days
were reduced to 10-12 days. As a result of the traditional method of treatment in patients in the control group,
the granulation process proceeded more slowly, and postoperative complications (keloid scars, contractures,
pigmentary changes) amounted to 63.2%, whereas in the main group, these complications decreased to 8.9%.
Conclusions. In the treatment of deep burns of the palms and fingers, the use of a «moist air environment» is
highly effective. This method of treatment not only allows for early skin plastic surgery and acceleration of the
granulation process but also accelerates wound healing and reduces complications. In patients in the control
group, complications after skin grafting were reduced by 2.5 times, and bed-days were reduced to 10-12 days.
In addition, it led to a decrease in pain and negative emotions during daily dressing and wound care
