Abstract

The liver is a barrier to the most of foreign substances that enter the human body. Entering the body in various ways, hepatotoxic agents disrupt the structure and function of the cell membranes of hepatocytes, causing the so-called toxic hepatitis - one of the most common types of pathology caused by the action of various chemicals, as well as various endotoxins. The main etiological causes of toxic hepatitis are alcohol, hepatotoxic drugs, pesticides, severe endotoxemia due to burn disease, peritonitis, necrotizing pancreatitis. Despite many researches devoted to toxic liver damage, its     96Вестник экстренной медицины, 2020, том 13, No6pathogenetic causes are still not clear and there are not accurate early markers of hepatitis. The lack of early precise diagnostic criteria leads to late diagnosis, in fact, when liver failure has already developed, accordingly, inadequate drug therapy. A promising area is the study of genes of the cytochrome P450 family, a deficiency or mutation of which may lead to toxic hepatitis develop ment. Also, the relationship between toxic liver damage in acute chemical poisoning and the body’s immune status has not been sufficiently studied. Thus, the review of the above unsolved issues considered in the article by R.N. Akalaev and co-authors, shows the need for further research in the field of toxic hepatitis
