Aim. Evaluation of the results of the use of a modified method of surgical treatment of posttraumatic strictures and urethral obliteration in children.
Patients. The results of treatment of 70 children with posttraumatic urethral strictures aged
5 to 13 years were studied. All patients had previously been operated on in other medical
institutions according to the Marion-Holtsov method. All patients underwent a modified Marion-Holtsov operation with the installation of a two-lumen catheter of their own modification.
Results. Satisfactory results were noted in 69 (98.6%) children. Only 1 patient had a recurrence of the stricture, and subsequently he underwent urethral reconstruction from the skin
of the scrotum.
Conclusion. Effective drainage and washing of the anastomosis area using a drainage catheter prevents its infection and has a beneficial effect on tissue healing processes.
