Abstract

This article considers a case of impaired spinal cord fluid circulation caused by severe brain injury. Information about complications after severe traumatic brain injury, their diagnosis, surgical tactics and methods of treatment of these complications and their relationship with postoperative skull defect is given.
The presented clinical case demonstrates an example of a differential approach and the application of an
algorithm for making a decision on surgical treatment in a patient with post-traumatic hydrocephalus and
a post-trepanation defect of the bones of the cranial vault with deterioration during attempts to verticalize
in a complex of rehabilitation measures. Based on the example, a conclusion was made about the advantages of early cranioplasty, which lies in the fact that it helps to improve the quality of life of patients by
accelerating the processes of early rehabilitation.
